Last week i spent a few days at Mt. Tamborine which is in the Gold Coast hinterlands. Over the last few of years my girlfriend and I have visited a place called Montville which is in the Sunshine Coast hinterlands. After exploring Montville a lot we thought we’d try somewhere new.

Mt. Tamborine is about an hours drive south of Brisbane, it’s made up of lots of small townships and is surrounded by rain forest. There are lookouts all over the mountain that allow you to see all the way back to Brisbane looking north and out to the ocean facing east.

There are lots of small wineries, a cheese maker and a distillery. We went to them all over the time we were there, but went to all the wineries on one of the days. That was good.

The place we stayed was made up of separate cabins set into the rain forest. It’s a rather romantic setting, especially with a fireplace and spa. Here’s a photo looking out through the room into the rain forest.

It’s good to get away for a while, specially into the rain forest, it has such a calming effect. I look forward to visiting Mt. Tamborine again.
