The time has come for a new design and what better way than to participate in the May 1st CSS Reboot.

I’ve been meaning to get a new layout for this site up for a while and have been working on one on and off for a couple of months. Once i was just about complete, it was only a couple of weeks till May 1st, so i decided to hold off until then.

So tomorrow i’ll be moving everything around and i’m actually going to be doing more than just a CSS reboot. The whole design and other parts of the site will be changed and renewed. With this will come a slight shift in the focus of this blog and will hopefully mean a more constant flow of content.

Bare with me as things are shifted and moved to make way for the new and improved Mick’s World.

There hasn’t been a great deal of activity on this site lately and there’s a good excuse.

I’ve been busy. Busy working on client projects as well as a few of my own. So without further ado i introduce two new sites (well one new and one that’s had an extreme makeover), CruftBucket and my Online Portfolio.

CruftBucket has been running for about 2 months now and has grown rapidly over that time. The main focus of this site is to have a place to put a heap of interesting, strange and humorous findings from around the web.

The Mick Real - Online Portfolio was an existing site of mine which displayed client works and information specific to my portfolio. The new revamped edition has an all new look and feel, works more like a blog and features my websites, projects, client work and other information which relates to the web design and development work i’m involved in.

So check them out if you haven’t already, let me know what you think.

Over the last few months i’ve noticed quite a few referrals from a variety of different forums that i haven’t visited or posted on before.

That’s not the issue though. When i visit the forums to see what’s being discussed to refer to my site i find that someone on the forum named Mick is claiming this site as their own. That’s wrong for many reasons.

The first time it happened i turned a blind eye, the next time i contacted the forum admin and they assured me that it was just a mistake as the user claiming micksworld.com actually had micksworld.co.uk.

Even though i think there’s enough key strokes between ‘m‘ and ‘.uk‘, they didn’t seem to pick up on it. Fine, mistakes are made.

Since then there have been an increasing number of visits from a member of various forums named Mick, not just displaying the link in his sig, but saying, “check out my site micksworld.com”. How can you make that many typos?

It’s not that i mind people visiting from the forums, i just don’t want it to be under false pretense.

Anyway, if you have been referred here by that guy, let him know that he’s typing the wrong address each time.

If he’s doing it intentionally and he’s trying to claim it as his own, check the specs. I’m sure his profile will be different to mine.

Well the time has come where The Show with Zefrank is coming to an end. All good things must come to an end, but it’s sad to see such a great source of daily entertainment/news/info/comedy/awesomeness & duckies finish in what seems to be so soon after it started.

With Ze completing his internship into the League of Awesomeness it’s definitely going to leave a void in the daily life so many people.

Having a lack of urgency in the past, now multiplied by the ending of the show i decided i’d by some meaningless products to show my appreciation for a great year that was The Show, but to also sport some little duckies and the Sports Racers symbolism.

I didn’t get to send in a 15 second video like many others, but i’d like to say, Ze i’ll miss the show. Thanks for a great year.

Each day after i wake up, eat my Vegemite on toast, brew my coffee, i head to my computer and read through a few feeds while sipping my strong brew. Followed by the daily viewing of Zefrank which i’m going to miss.

Once that bit of variety for the day is out of the way i often ponder which task to get on with first. Sometimes the task that i should be getting on with doesn’t get me enthusiastic enough that i postpone it until later, never finding the spark that would get me to actually start that task.

It seems that everyday there’s that same problem, the barrier that gets pushed out of the way while another tasks gets done. The same shit forms around the bottom of the curtain.

When the tasks are limited, procrastination seems to be inevitable. Recently the tasks and opportunities have been on the rise and things have been moving forwards in a way that i have been wanting for some time.

Change is in the air and i feel good about it.
