Over the last few months i’ve noticed quite a few referrals from a variety of different forums that i haven’t visited or posted on before.
That’s not the issue though. When i visit the forums to see what’s being discussed to refer to my site i find that someone on the forum named Mick is claiming this site as their own. That’s wrong for many reasons.
The first time it happened i turned a blind eye, the next time i contacted the forum admin and they assured me that it was just a mistake as the user claiming micksworld.com actually had micksworld.co.uk.
Even though i think there’s enough key strokes between ‘m‘ and ‘.uk‘, they didn’t seem to pick up on it. Fine, mistakes are made.
Since then there have been an increasing number of visits from a member of various forums named Mick, not just displaying the link in his sig, but saying, “check out my site micksworld.com”. How can you make that many typos?
It’s not that i mind people visiting from the forums, i just don’t want it to be under false pretense.
Anyway, if you have been referred here by that guy, let him know that he’s typing the wrong address each time.
If he’s doing it intentionally and he’s trying to claim it as his own, check the specs. I’m sure his profile will be different to mine.
